Al-Qadiri, UN Resident Coordinator in Syria discuss prospects of joint cooperation

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Social Affairs Rima al-Qadiri discussed Thursday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Syria Ali al-Zaatari issues related to bilateral cooperation and work mechanisms between the government and UN affiliated agencies and organizations.

The two sides reviewed holding an illustration workshop on the Ministry’s work and legislations regulating the work of charities.

Minister al-Qadiri stressed the need to focus on development projects rather than relief work, indicating that the connecting between international cooperation and national priorities will further boost the work of civil associations and provide access to more beneficiaries.

In turn, Al-Zaatari underlined the need for more coordination and communication to offer assistance to the citizens affected by the crisis, highlighting the Ministry’s key role as a partner to the UN affiliated organizations, particularly the UNDP, the UNICEF and the UNFPA.
