Damascus, SANA- Syria and Belarus have discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture and ways of enhancing it.
That came during a meeting Sunday that brought together Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Dr. Fayez al-Mikdad and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Damascus, Yuri Sluka, and the accompanying delegation.
Minister al-Mikdad shed light on the agreements signed between the two sides in the field of agriculture, especially the plant and veterinary quarantine and food industries and their operational programs.
He underlined the need to sign a memorandum of understanding through which fertilizer needs can be secured in a stable and long-term manner, calling for forming technical committees from both sides to determine the forms of product exchanges according to a specific calendar so as to identify products available for export or exchange.
Ambassador Sluka, for his part, expressed willingness to convey the ideas put forward to his country’s government, underlining the importance of establishing a list of products available for trade exchange, forming technical teams and holding their meetings as soon as possible to develop a clear formula for cooperation.
