Lattakia, SANA – The “A woman.. women”   art exhibition, held currently at the Orchestra Club in Lattakia, highlighted part of the Syrian women’s  participation in the art  scene in Syria.

Ten women artists  from Lattakia, Damascus and Aleppo are showcasing their artistic works  in the exhibition.

The initiative, adopted by the Club, aims at highlighting the cultural role  of the Syrian women at a time when the brilliant image of the Syrian woman is being distorted by a wave of extremist ideology that seeks to undermine the cultural depth of the country.

Director of the Club Yasser Draibati said that the initiative’s goal is to show the achievements of the Syrian women in the art scene and affirm that their presence has never been a luxury,  rather but an intellectual and cultural entity that dates back to thousands years.

Draibati  added that the exhibition presents different artistic models for women representing  different generations.

The participants in the exhibition stressed that the exhibition is considered a chance for them to get acquainted with various artistic experiences and exchange expertise and views.

They said that the exhibition represents a splendid gathering of women which aims at highlighting the creative output of the Syrian woman and her role in the Syrian art scene, in addition to being  it is a celebration of women’s achievements.

The club is planning to hold an exhibition which includes bigger group of Syrian artists from various provinces as a form of resisting the takfiri ideology which is storming the homeland and seeking to blot out its brilliant cultural image.
