Damascus, SANA- Minister of Economy, Bassel Abdul-Hanan discussed with the Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Damascus Ms. Margaret Jacob ways to promote relations between the two countries, prospects for economic cooperation, and activating trade exchange.
Minister Abdul Hannan stressed Syria’s keenness to enhance relations with Germany and benefit from its expertise, calling for working to lift sanctions on the banking system “financial transfers”, as it is the main factor in economic work and attracting investments to the country.
He welcomed the return of German companies to invest in Syria, especially in the field of alternative energy, noting the importance of benefiting from the German experience in investment systems and management.
For her part, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy noted that preparations are underway to open the German Embassy in Damascus soon, and that there is a desire to develop relations between the two countries in various fields, especially economic ones.
Jacob pointed out that there will be a meeting soon for the European Union, which will discuss easing sanctions on Syria, noting the desire of many German companies to work in Syria.
