Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference holds a dialogue session in Daraa

Daraa, SANA-The interventions of the participants in the session of the Preparatory Committee for the Syrian National Dialogue Conference held in Daraa city, focused on the necessity of announcing an interim constitution, forming a supreme body for transitional justice, and establishing a committee in Syria concerned with human rights.

The attendees raised ideas and questions, in the session held in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in the Daraa Culture Directorate, which focused on overcoming the idea of minorities and building a State from all segments of the Syrian people, and the necessity for the National Dialogue Conference to include all segments of the Syrian people.

They asked about the form of the new State and its suitability for the Syrian population component, and the necessity of working to eliminate the sediments of the past years and building a solid State that protects freedoms.

The participants touched on the concept and description of crime and holding criminals and perpetrators of war crimes accountable, and the importance of including Islamic identity in the new Syrian constitution and considering Islam as a source of legislation, and establishing an electronic system to classify questionnaires that take people’s ideas and suggestions, working to achieve civil peace and reform state institutions, and involving Palestinians in building the new Syria while preserving the Palestinian identity.

The attendees suggested building a new social contract for accountability, achieving justice, rebuilding the Syrian national identity according to the principles of dignity, moving from a revolutionary mentality to a state mentality, focusing on competencies and the young generation to build a modern state according to fair laws and an honest judiciary, forming a revolutionary arbitration committee from the families of martyrs and detainees, giving agriculture a place in the conference, involving unions in building government institutions, and shedding light on the disabled and war wounded.

Head of the Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference, Maher Alloush, said in his speech: “The Syrian people have many problems that need solutions, and bright ideas that constitute a crossing to safety through general visions that establish constitutional outcomes, which serve as the infrastructure for an interim constitution and then a permanent constitution.”.

Alloush added: “The purpose of the session is to listen to the ideas, proposals and suggestions that we will rely on in developing an integrated work map for the National Conference.”

Member of the Preparatory Committee, Hoda al-Atassi, said in her speech: “The Preparatory Committee has set axes as a starting point for planning for the future of Syria in light of visiting the Syrian governorates, such as social justice, constitutional construction, reform and building institutions, issues of personal freedoms, the role of civil society organizations, and the economic principles of the new Syrian regime.”.
