First plane of the WFP aid air bridge arrives in Qamishli

Hasaka, SANA – The first aircraft of the humanitarian air bridge to Syria arrived at Qamishli Airport in the northeastern Hasaka province on Saturday night.

The supplies carried on board the plane were provided by the World Food Program (WFP).

In a statement to SANA, Head of the Social Affairs Department Issam al-Hussein said the plane carried 650 food packages and 230 peanut butter boxes.

He noted that the WFP-provided air bridge includes 25 planes that will transport 15,000 packages of various food supplies to Hasaka province.

Al-Hussein said the aid that will be distributed to the beneficiaries of displaced, affected and needy families according to the lists prepared by the Relief Subcommittee.

In 2015, the WFP provided more than 285,000 food packages to Hasaka province.
