Moscow calls on all sides to promote aid delivery to all areas in Syria

Moscow, SANA – Russian Foreign Ministry called on all sides in Syria and countries with influence to make efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas.

“Moscow is concerned with the persistently difficult humanitarian situation in several cities of the Syrian Arab Republic… Especially worrisome are conditions in …Madaya, Fouaa and Kefraya,” the Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The statement noted that Moscow is making all efforts, including at talks with the Syrian government, to help civilians through cooperating with UN humanitarian.

“These efforts,” the statement said, “had significant results which, in particular, were confirmed by employees of UN humanitarian agencies in Syria as they observed the delivery of humanitarian aid to Madaya.”

“It is necessary that all sides in the Syrian conflict, as well as all countries that have influence [on the situation in Syria], make maximum efforts to promote the delivery of humanitarian aid, first of all, to settlements besieged and blocked by militants of terrorist groups Jabhat al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham and Jaish al-Islam,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

As it highlighted the importance of resolving all humanitarian problems that the Syrian residents face, the Ministry said “We stress the necessity to urgently launch an intra-Syrian negotiations process, without any preconditions, on the basis of the Geneva Communiqué of 30 June, 2012, agreements reached in the framework of International Syria Support Group on 30 October and 14 November 2015, as well as UN Security Council Resolution 2254 from 18 December 2015.”

Yesterday, a total of 63 lorries carrying humanitarian aid found their way into Madaya town in northwestern Damascus and the terrorists-besieged Kefraya and al-Fouaa towns in Idleb.

The delivery came a few days after a shipment of 65 lorries were sent to the three towns.
