UN official: Syrians need global solidarity more than ever

United Nations, SANA-Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations to Syria, Najat Rochdi, stressed that Syrians need global solidarity more than ever, calling on the international community to take action to help them recover from the effects of the previous phase.

In a post on X, Rushdie said in response to the announcement of the suspension of US food aid to Syria: This topic “threatens devastating repercussions,” stressing that Syrian lives are at stake”.

Rushdie warned that suspending this aid would deepen the suffering and fuel instability, adding, “The international community must act now, especially as nearly 1.5 million people in camps in northern Syria are still recovering from more than a decade of conflict and ongoing instability and now face the risk of losing essential food aid.”
