Berlin, SANA Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the German Foreign Ministry, Tobias Tunkel, said that the new German government will continue to provide more support to Syria and he believed that stabilizing the situation in that country is in Germany’s best interest.
German Website Deutsche Welle today quoted Tunkel as saying during a symposium in Berlin on reconstruction in Syria:”the sanctions imposed on Syria are hindering the reconstruction process, and this is a very complex issue since the European Union also imposed them on Al-Assad and his henchmen to prevent them from accessing funds frozen in European banks.“
Tunkel urged the international community to provide support to Syria so that the Syrian people can shape the transition process themselves, without external interference.
