472 medical students pass the unified medical exam

Damascus, SANA- 472 medical students out of 726 from governmental and private Syrian universities and foreign universities passed the

unified medical exam in the additional exam session held in the period between Nov. 25 and 27.

The exam results were announced by the National Center for Measurement and Evaluation (CME) at the Ministry of Higher Education which works on assessing the performance of students, programs, and educational institutions and adopts a clear criteria for cross-border certificates based on the methodology, techniques and institutional standard measurement tools.

CME Director-General Maysoun Dashash told SANA that the success rate in the exam reached 65%, adding that this exam session was extra as it was granted to students whose circumstances didn’t allow them to do the exams of the regular session last August.

She indicated that 55 students did the unified nursing exam of which 16 passed as the success rate was 29 percent.

Passing the unified medical exam is a main condition for medical students to graduate from the governmental and private Syrian universities and to equalize their certificates if they are obtained from foreign universities. Students must obtain 60 % in the exams to be able to submit to the higher studies.

The unified nursing exam is the first of its type at the level of the Ministry of higher Education and passing it is a condition to submit to the differentiation of higher studies.
