Second session for Committee of Discussing the Constitution suspended after detecting Coronavirus cases among participants

Geneva, SANA- The UN suspended the second meeting for the mini-committee of the expanded body of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution on Monday afternoon after discovering that some members of the participating delegations are infected with the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Bureau of the UN Special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, said in a statement “following the first meeting, the 3rd session of the constitutional committee has been suspended,” adding that the Swiss authorities and the UN office in Geneva have been informed and swift preventive measures have been taken.

Earlier, Sources following up on the meetings said that after receiving the results of the tests for the delegation members, three Coronavirus cases were detected among the participants, with one case in each of the national delegation, the Turkish regime’s delegation, and the civil society delegation.

As a result, the second session of meetings was suspended and the delegation members were asked to return to their accommodations and maintain distancing until it is verified that there are no more infections.
