Mikdad and Ramzy discuss efforts to end crisis in Syria

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad met with Ambassador Ramzy Ramzy, United Nations Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, on Wednesday, in the framework of the continuous consultations between the Syrian government and the Office of the Special Envoy on the situation in Syria.

The meeting  came to follow up on what was discussed during the Envoy’s latest visit to Syria last month and to prepare for his next visit which will be scheduled later.

Mikdad and Ramzy discussed issues related to the situation on the ground and the efforts exerted on various levels to bring the crisis to an end according to the relevant Security Council resolutions that affirms the sovereignty, independence and unity of Syria, including the resolutions related to combating terrorism.

Both sides also touched upon the role the Special Envoy could play towards facilitating the dialogue between the Syrians so that for the political crisis to be led and conducted by the Syrians themselves.
