Homs, SANA – Abu Rabah (14) gas well in Homs was put in service with a capacity ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 cubic meters.

During the inauguration that took place on Monday, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali said the well is 2552 m deep and has been linked with the gas factory supplying the southern parts of the Central Region that produces around 5 million cubic meters of gas daily.

The Minister noted that exploration, drilling works and production will continue at all sites in efforts to secure the country’s needs of petroleum products.

The inauguration came one day after the Cabinet established an executive vision for securing petroleum products and energy requirements during the coming stage based on near-term and medium-term programs in accordance with specific priorities.

Director of Central Region Fields Department at the Syrian Oil Company Saleh Darbouli said Abu Rabah field is one of the largest fields uncovered in Syria, pointing out that there are plans to start drilling works at Abu Rabah wells 13, 15 and 16 in the current year.

Works at Abu Rabah wells 17 and 18 will start next year, he said.

Drilling operations in Abu Rabah well 14, which is located 60 km south-east of Homs City, started in March along with two other gas wells.
