Speaker Abbas: People’s Assembly is responsible for monitoring institutions’ performance and detecting corruption

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly held on Sunday its fourth session for the first ordinary round of the second legislative term, headed by Speaker Hadiyeh Abbas.

Speaker Abbas affirmed that the Assembly is responsible for monitoring the performance of institutions and ministries, detecting corruption through providing documents and information, and shedding light on corruption cases for accounting, adding that committees will been formed to address any cases of corruption because the danger of corruption equals the threat of terrorism.

The strength of the Assembly is from the power of its members and we will not be afraid of anyone, she stressed.

For their part, Assembly members pointed out to the need to improve media work and keep up with all the issues quickly and at the right time, calling for finding a way to combat the phenomenon of abduction in some areas.

They stressed on the need to monitor markets strictly, mainly for the case of the spoiled meat products which entered the Syrian markets illegally from Turkey.

The People’s Assembly also approved its 17 permanent committees and their offices.
