Updated-President Putin: Moscow will discuss US ideas on the crisis in Syria

Moscow, SANA- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that the US suggestions to settle the crisis in Syria would be discussed with US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Russia Today TV quoted President Putin as saying while meeting Kerry “Lavrov briefed me on your proposals and on some issues that need extra discussions, I’m very happy with the opportunity to meet with you and talk.”

He pointed out that Russia and the United States are jointly searching for the solutions to the most complex crises including the crisis in Syria.

For his part, Kerry said “With regard to Syria, Vienna-1 and Vienna-2 were a strong beginning, opening up possibilities, and I think there is no question Foreign Minister Lavrov and I have agreed that together the United States and Russia have an ability to make a significant difference here.”

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs said Russia and the USA have agreed on continuing work together to identify lists of terrorists and “moderate opposition” in Syria.

He stressed that the two countries also agreed on the steps that could make fighting terrorism more “coordinated”, expressing Moscow’s approval on holding an international conference on Syria in New York next Friday.
