Damascus, SANA – Zitherist Dima Mawazini ranked the second in Kazakhstan International Festival of Nations’ Music held in Astana city with the participation of musicians and music bands from different world countries.
Mawazini told SANA that she represented her country, Syria, in the contest of the Festival between the 2nd and 4th of September, where she ranked the second.
The Zitherist added that she also got the excellence award for playing two music pieces she composed herself named “Homeland Tale” and “Farabi Spirit” and representing Zither which the ancient musician Abu Nasser al-Farabi, originally from Kazakhstan, developed and visited Arab countries and resided in Damascus until he died.
Musician Mawazini is a higher institute for music – conservatoire – graduate. She specialized in the piano and the Zither. She is head of Oriental Music in the Solhi al-Wadi Institute.
