A festival for mitigating psychological impacts of terrorist attacks on children held in Deir Ezzor  

Deir Ezzor, SANA- With the aim of mitigating the psychological impacts of the terrorist crimes and attacks on the Syrian children, Social Affairs and Labor Directorate and Mihad Media and Arts Institution organized “Bright Nights” Festival in Deir Ezzor City.

“The festival comes in as a fruit of cooperation between the Social Affairs and Labor Directorate in Deir Ezzor and the Iranian Cultural Center and it includes holding activities for children and adolescents, in addition to spreading the culture of happiness among them over many days,”  Head of the directorate Abdul-Rahman Shawish said.

Shawish added that civil societies have contributed to organizing the festival and holding artistic sections and competitions.

The Festival’s coordinator Rashed al-Fayssal  clarified that “The Festival includes programs directed for the children and adolescents through different activities that vary between the entertainment, raising awareness and teaching the right values for children through games supervised by psychologists and educational specialist.”

The Festival also includes a number of purposeful programs which are addressing the parents accompanying the children such as the theatrical shows, poetry recitation, singing and holding competitions, according to al-Fayssal.

Artistic Director of the Festival Hisham Ziab said that activities of the festival aim at “bringing back smile and joy to thousands of children who have been deprived of living their childhood due to the spread of terrorists in their areas over the years of the crisis as they today have returned to play, laugh and smile.”

A number of children participating in a theatrical show expressed happiness to participate in this activity and their parents affirmed that such activities work on planting the seeds of happiness in the hearts of children and strengthening their personalities, in addition to developing their talents.
