Syria, Iraq ink MoU on political consultations

Damascus, SANA- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid al-Moallem, and Undersecretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Nizar Khairallah, and the accompanying delegation have discussed the political developments in the region and combating terrorism by Syria and Iraq.

During a meeting in Damascus on Monday, al-Moallem and Khairalallah reviewed the distinguished relations between Syria and Iraq and ways of strengthening them in various fields to serve the common interest of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.

Both sides’ viewpoint agreed upon the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation to confront the great challenges facing Syria and Iraq,  especially in the field of security and combating the terrorist organizations, which constitute the main challenge that hinders economic development and threatens the unity and stability of the two countries.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on the political consultations between the Syrian and Iraqi Foreign Ministries.
