Daraa, SANA – Daraa Governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hanous discussed on Wednesday with a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ways of providing drinking water to citizens, especially after the terrorist attacks on many of the water projects in the province, which deprived about 34 populated areas of water.
Governor al-Hanous stressed the readiness of the governorate to cooperate with the ICRC as to provide drinking water to all of the province’s areas, adding that the governorate has received about 25 water tankers with a capacity of 5,000 liters each.
He highlighted that the governorate has dug 10 new wells in Daraa city and has plans for 20 more, noting that work is being carried out to provide water tankers from international organizations to operate in the city’s neighborhoods.
For their part, members of the delegation stressed the importance of cooperation between the ICRC and the governmental in Syria and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
In turn, head of the Water Establishment in the province Mohammad al-Masalma said al-Thawra dam project is currently in its fifth stage and it will provide water to about 75 thousand persons upon completion.
