Macron: France to boost forming the contact group on Syria

Paris, SANA – French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his country’s intention to boost its initiative to form a contact group on Syria, noting that France is keen to find a political solution in the country and achieve stability in Iraq.

His remarks came in a joint press conference with Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Thursday.

Macron said that France is in a contact with all the political parties and leaders in the region to consolidate and boost the establishment of the contact group.

In his address before the UN General Assembly last month, the French President called for creating a contact group on Syria in order to launch a new dynamism to push towards a political solution in Syria. The group will include the five member states of the Security Council and the influential parties in the
crisis.
