Cooperation in humanitarian sector discussed with Norwegian and Belarusian delegations

Damascus, SANA – Means of boosting Syrian-Norwegian cooperation in humanitarian aid and relief work were the focus of talks between Local Administration and Environment Minister Hussein Makhlouf and Carsten Hansen, the Norwegian Refugee Council’s Regional Director for the Middle East.

Makhlouf briefed Hanson and the accompanying delegation on services provided by the Syrian  Government in coordination with concerned ministries and bodies despite difficult circumstances and the efforts exerted to achieve national reconciliations and rehabilitate infrastructure destroyed due to terrorist attacks.

He highlighted the importance of the memo of understanding signed between the Ministry and the Norwegian Refugee Council with the aim of activating cooperation in infrastructure rehabilitation projects .

For his part, Hanson shed light on the Council’s current efforts to rehabilitate damaged facilities and a number of schools in Damascus Countryside, Aleppo and Daraa, underlining the importance of the standing cooperation with Syria Trust for Development to carry out joint sustainable programs.

In the same context, Makhlouf met Ambassador of Belarus in Damascus and reviewed efforts exerted by the Higher Committee for Relief to meet the needs of terror-affected citizens.

The Belarusian Ambassador underlined the importance of activating cooperation between the two  countries to include services and humanitarian sectors, indicating his country’s intention to send humanitarian assistance materials such as food and clothes to be distributed to martyrs’ families.
