Tehran, SANA – Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Ali Larijani on Monday stressed that the operation of librating Aleppo from terrorists is very important in terms of boosting security in Syria and the region.
During his meeting with Chairman of Portuguese Parliament’s Trade and Foreign Policy Commission Sergio Sousa Pinto, Larijani pointed out that his country supports Syria in counterterrorism upon the request of the Syrian government, clarifying that the European Union does not have a clear role in counterterrorism in a time when ending crises in the region requires international will.
For his part, Pinto pointed out to the double-standard policy adopted by some states with regards to dealing with terrorism, saying “this contradiction is quite clear and combating terrorism requires a serious will.”
