Geneva, SANA – UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura voiced “shock” over the attacks by terrorist organizations that have been firing large numbers of shells and rockets at the neighborhoods of Aleppo city during the past 48 hours.
In a statement on Sunday, de Mistura said that trusted reports from sources on the grand show that dozens of civilians were killed in western Aleppo, including children, and hundreds more were killed by brutal and indiscriminate attacks by “armed opposition” groups.
He said that those who claim that shelling seeks to alleviate the siege imposed on eastern Aleppo must remember that there’s no justification for using indiscriminate weapons including heavy weapons on civilian areas, and that this could be considered a war crime.
