Eight new breaches of cessation of hostilities by terrorist groups in Syria

Lattakia, SANA – The cessation of hostilities agreement was breached eight more times by terrorist groups in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of breaches to 989 since the agreement came into effect on 27 February, the Russian center monitoring the agreement said on Sunday.

The center, based in Hmeimim air base, added in a statement that 5 of those breaches were committed in Damascus countryside where terrorists of the so-called “Jaish al-Islam” targeted with mortar shells the towns Erbin,Jobar, Housh al-Shalaq, Harasta and Douma.

The center continued to say that the other three breaches took place in Lattakia province where terrorists of the so called “ Free Army “ targeted with mortar shells and the rocket launchers military posts in the vicinity of Toubal citadel and Abu Ali Mountain, while terrorists of the so-called “Ahrar al-Sham” shelled Kenssaba village.

It pointed out that 6 more towns have joined the agreement as the total number of the Syrian cities and towns which have joined the agreement reached 395, while the number of the armed groups which announced their commitment to the agreement remained 69.

The center added that the Syrian and Russian aircrafts have not targeted positions of armed groups that had announced joining the cessation of hostilities and informed the American and Russian coordination centers of these groups’ sites.

According to the center, more than two tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the locals of Jeb Abbas village in Homs countryside, as more than three tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the locals of al-Andalus suburb in Damascus countryside.

The center pointed out that terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS continued attacking and targeting with mortar rounds and rocket shells the neighborhoods of al-Ansari, al-Khalediyeh, al-Lairamoun, Castello commercial center, cement factory, leather factory in Aleppo, as they targeted with mortar shells the towns of Douma, Jobar, Harasta, al-Bahariyeh, Housh Nasri, Hateitet al-Jarash as well as the farms of Khan al-Sheeh in Damascus countryside.

The cessation of hostilities agreement does not include ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other groups designated as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council.
