Agriculture Ministry, AKDN sign MoU on developing agriculture sector

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmad al-Qadiri and Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) signed a MoU on developing the agriculture sector and improving the livelihoods of those affected by the crisis in Syria.

In a press statement, al-Qadiri said that the MoU aims at focusing on a number of the joint agricultural activities that are related to rural development as well as the rationalization of water use, production of forage crops and developing livestock, especially in the poor rural areas.

The minister pointed out that there are many joint activities and ideas between the two sides that will be translated into operational programs in a number of rural areas in order to improve the living conditions of farmers.

In turn, AKDN Resident Representative in Syria Mohamed Saifo said the MoU aims at improving the agricultural production in small areas and with small amounts of water, indicating that the projects will serve farmers and help them save efforts and money.
