Nine breaches of the cessation of hostilities agreement in the past 24 hours

Lattakia, SANA – Terrorist organizations breached the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria nine times in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of beaches to 577 since the agreement came into effect on 27 February 2016, the Russian Coordination Center said.

The center, based in Hmeimim airbase, added in a statement on Saturday that terrorists affiliated to the so-called Jaish al-Islam targeted with mortar shells a number of military posts in Damascus and Aleppo.

The statement noted that the Syrian army has foiled attempts by Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists to advance in several areas in the countryside of Lattakia, Homs, Damascus, Quneitra, Aleppo and Idleb.

According to the Center, the number of towns that joined the cessation of hostilities raised to 113 while the number of armed groups that have declared their commitment to the cessation of hostilities agreement remained 59.

The cessation of hostilities agreement does not include Jabhat al-Nusra, ISIS and other groups listed by the UN as terrorist organizations.
