Roads and Bridges Company stresses on optimal use of debris in reconstruction

Damascus, SANA – Assistant Minister of Public Works Moalla Khodr said a specialized committee has accomplished the book of technical specifications and conditions with regard to recycling the debris from demolished buildings to prepare for reconstruction and is now working on finishing the book of financial and legal rights.

Speaking at a lecture organized by the General Company for Roads and Bridges on the sidelines of the International Techno Build 2016 Expo, which concluded activities on Tuesday, Moalla added the ministry has developed visions and systems for work in destroyed areas, in addition to visions on the work.

He noted that the visions include that a contractor will collect and recycle all the debris from demolished buildings which the “state might buy,” considering that each area will be dealt with according to special work conditions.

For his part, Director of the General Company for Roads and Bridges Louai Barakat said the company has made important strides in the preparation for the reconstruction stage, particularly with regard to recycling of the debris and utilizing it in asphalt concrete pavement mixtures.

Techno Build 2016 Expo opened on Sunday with the participation of 45 Syrian and Arab companies with lectures focusing on topics related to reconstruction, rapid building techniques and suggestions on rebuilding infrastructure of water and sewage project.
