New York, SANA – Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin asserted that Turkey is the main source of weapons and military equipment for ISIS terrorists.
In a letter distributed at the UN Security Council on Friday, Churkin said that Turkish intelligence are supplying ISIS in Syria with weapons and military equipment, citing data about such activity which took place on November 2015 and January 2016.
According to the Russian diplomat, Moscow presented the Security Council with evidence containing figures about Turkey’s illegal supplying of weapons and military equipment to ISIS in Syria, with Turkey employing NGOs to transport weapons an via humanitarian aid convoys under the supervision of Turkish intelligence.
He pointed out that ISIS has received explosives valued at USD 1.9 million in 2015 alone, elaborating further by stating that ISIS received from Turkey 2,500 tons of ammonium nitrates valued at USD 788,700, 456 tons of potassium nitrates valued at 468,700, 75 tons of aluminum powder valued at 496,500, sodium nitrates valued at 19,400, glycerin valued at 102,500, and nitric acid valued at 34,000.
