The Golan people reaffirm continued struggle against Israeli occupation on Open Strike anniversary

Damascus, SANA – The Popular Committee for the Liberation of the Golan reaffirmed that the struggle against the Israeli occupation will continue to completely foil the Zionist project.

The reaffirmation came in a statement issued on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the national Open Strike staged by the people of occupied Golan in February 14, 1982.

The strike came to declare rejection of the Israeli authorities’ decision issued on December 14, 1981 to annex the occupied Syrian Golan and impose its laws, administrative and judicial custody on it.

The Israeli decision, which was widely protested, was considered “null and void and without international legal effect” in the Security Council resolution no. 497 of 1981.

“Through their protest against the arbitrary Zionist decision, the Golan people stressed their rejection of the Israeli entity and firm adherence to the homeland Syria,” said the statement of the Popular Committee for the Liberation of the Golan.

It added that the continued struggle against the Israeli enemy also includes continued fight against the forces of terrorism employed to the service of the Zionist project.

Meanwhile, the locals in the occupied Majdal Shams village marked the anniversary by holding a celebration during which Syrian patriotic songs were chanted.

Bishr al-Maqt, a Syrian former prisoner in Israeli jails, delivered a speech in which he stressed that the people of the Golan will remain committed to their homeland, army and leadership in the face of the Israeli enemy and terrorist aggression.
