Ministry of Water Resources signs a MoU with Action Against Hunger organization

Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Water Resources and Action Against Hunger-ACF International signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding for 2016 to set up joint projects in water and sewage sectors.

Minister Kamal al-Sheikha said the MoU provides for joint cooperation in assessing the current situation of the water sector and environmental overhaul and health awareness, securing needs of mechanical and electrical equipment, generators, tankers and pumps, establishing sewage treatment stations, rehabilitation of water and sanitation networks and enhancing the technical capacities of the Ministry.

Svetlana Kapustian, Director of Action Against Hunger, expressed the organization’s will to develop work and expand activities in Syria and its keenness to rapidly respond to the needs of citizens in the sectors of water and sanitation, referring to spending USD 2 million during the last year.

She noted that this amount can be increased in the future in light of the needs and requirements.

Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1979 and has been active in Syria since 2009. Its activities include contributing to the rehabilitation of drinking water systems and health care facilities, in addition to food and livelihood projects.
