Lavrov, Kerry discuss Syria… Bogdanov and Haddad affirm need for immediate dialogue

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed on Monday with US counterpart John Kerry the settlement process for the crisis in Syria and combating terrorists of the Islamic State (ISIS).

“The two sides affirmed, at a telephone call, supporting efforts of UN Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistrua in his efforts to prepare and organize talks between representatives of the Syrian government and a delegation of the Syrian opposition sides in order to reach a political settlement,” A statement by Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Meanwhile, Special representative of the Russian President, Michael Bogdanov discussed with Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow Riad Haddad aspects of boosting bilateral relations between Syria and Russia as well as means of finding a political solution to the crisis in the country.

“Both sides affirmed the need for launching a Syrian-Syria dialogue, based on Geneva communiqué of 2102 and Security Council resolution No. 2254 of 2105 without pre-conditions,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
