Russian pilot of the downed jet rescued by Syrian and Russian special forces

Damascus, SANA – A unit of the Syrian army special forces, in cooperation with the Russian special forces, carried out Tuesday night a special operation in which they penetrated 4.5 km deep into the terrorists’ lines and rescued one of the two pilots of the Russian jet downed yesterday by the Turkish army, a military source said on Wednesday.

The Russian Su-24 aircraft was downed over the Syrian territories yesterday by an air -to-air missile launched from a Turkish F-16 fighter jet when it was returning from an anti-terrorist mission in the northern countryside of Lattakia.

Members of the Syrian and Russian special forces who carried out the rescue operation returned to their position safely, added the source, stressing that the Russian pilot is in good health.
