Lattakia, SANA- A festival dubbed “Syria Stronger” started activities on Sunday at Dar al-Assad for Cultural in the coastal Lattakia province with the participation of civil, sport, political, and cultural figures.
The festival, organized by Lattakia Governorate in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, will hold various activities in different areas of the province.
Many sport competitions, cultural symposia, poetry evenings and folkloric dancing shows will be also organized in the framework of the festival which will last till Oct. 17th
In a word at the opening of the festival, Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khudir al-Salem indicated the deep implications of the festival’s name as the Syrian Arab army is still providing sacrifices to make “Syria Stronger”.
Al-Salem said that holding the festival conveys a message on the resilience of the Syrian people and their determination to live the life with all of its sweet and bitter details.
For his part, Chairman of Lattakia Culture Directorate Majid Sarem said in a statement to journalists that the festival comes in the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s plan to hold festivals which have a national dimensions and to open the door wide for different institutions to participate in these festivals such as the Arab Writers Union, the NGOs, the Artists Association and the National Theater.
Artistic, sports, ballet, circus, acrobat, and gymnastics shows were performed at the opening of the festival. A shopping market is being also held in the framework of the festival.
