Provinces, SANA – A firefighter was killed and 3 others were injured in Homs after the searing heatwave in the region caused some 18 fires in a number of provinces on Monday.
A source at Homs Governorate told SANA reporter that a fire truck had an accident while on way to extinguish a fire in Wadi al-Nadara area in Homs western countryside, causing death of a worker and injury of three others.
In the coastal provinces of Tartous and Lattakia, the heatwave caused 18 fires in a number of areas, all were put out.
Syria is witnessing a scorching heatwave with a high humidity, with temperatures higher by 6 degrees from average for this time of year.
