Lattakia, SANA –All the fires that broke out in the mountains of the province have been extinguished, Lattakia Governor, Khaled Abaza said on Saturday.
He clarified that only one fire remains near the town of Al-Samra, where firefighting teams are facing difficulties in accessing the rocky and mountainous nature of the place.
Earlier, firefighters with the support of the Syrian army and the local community were able to control the fires in the area of Al-Muzayr’a and the surrounding villages in the countryside of Al Haffeh municipality.
Lattakia’s Director of Agriculture, Bassem Duba told SANA that after great efforts, firefighting teams managed to control and extinguish the fire, and cooling operations are currently underway.
He added that Firefighters faced difficulties related to the rugged terrain and strong winds.
