Petroleum Minister: Work to repair damage to gas and oil lines ongoing

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Sleiman al-Abbas said that workers at the Ministry are continuing to repair the damage caused by the recurring terrorist attacks on gas and oil lines.

Minister Abbas said in a statement to SANA on Monday that the armed terrorist organizations kidnapped on Friday afternoon a crew of technicians southwest of al-Qariyatain area in Homs province while they were repairing the Arab Gas Line 36, which provides fuel for power plants in the southern areas and which was sabotaged on July 13th.

He pointed out that the terrorists are still holding the workers hostage despite all attempts to intervene and release them by the local civil society.

Minister Abbas said that the attack on al-Omar gas line in al-Mahsah area in al-Qariyatain resulted in cutting off fuel to power plants in Dair Ali, Tishreen, and al-Nasera, adding that the gas is being diverted towards the central and coastal areas because the quantities of production and gas supply have not changed.

The ministry completed the repairs and maintenance work on Line 24 which was attacked by terrorists a few days ago in Hanoura area.
