Syrian-South African talks for cooperation in environmental sector

Damascus, SANA-Minister of State for Environment Affairs Dr. Nazira Sarkis discussed with the South Africa’s Ambassador in Damascus Shaun Byneveldt means of bolstering bilateral cooperation to achieve environmental safety and phytosanitary (plant health) in Syria.

During the meeting, Minister Sarkis said the ministry is working with the bodies concerned to outline an integrated national program for environment-preservation during the upcoming stage.

The ambassador, in turn, expressed his country’s readiness to help Syria in the economic, political and environmental sectors, voicing his appreciation for the Syrian people’s steadfastness.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of preparing a memo of understanding for cooperation in the environmental and sustainable development fields.
