Syrians vow to continue Late President’s firm and deep-rooted process and national principles

Damascus, SANA Marking the 15th anniversary of passing away President Hafez al-Assad, Founder of modern Syria, the Syrian people remember his undaunted stances and his belief in the victory of those who have rights and justice issues over their enemies whatever their powers are and derive from his achievements their resilience and power in the critical stage for restoring Syria’s pivotal role.

Confronting a war for the 5th successive years against a blind Takfiri terrorism which kills innocents and destroys their lives, the Syrians recall Late President’s warnings of those who claim of believing in Islam, distort its principles and kill whole families and extend their hands to foreign sides and their clients and to the US regimes to get paid and armed to betray their homeland.

In the face of the aggression against the country, the Syrian’s are inspired by the Late President’s ideas and thoughts on the necessity of rebuilding humans as “human is the goal and basis of life”.

The Syrian people are inspired to restore Syria’s role and positions outlined by the Late President’s Correctionist Movement in 1970.

Laying the foundation of new era in the history of Syria and its political, economic, social and cultural rise, the Movement sought to unify the political parties in the country under the National Progressive Front in 1972, endorsing a new constitution of the country in 1973 and in the same Syria leading the Libration war of October
against Israel to liberate the occupied Syrian territories in Golan which shattered the myth of invincible Israeli supremacy.

After 15-year of his death, the Syrians are convinced that building state institutions and dogmatic army were the main bases of Syria’s steadfastness in the current crisis splitting the country and its capability to confront the terrorists who came to it from more than 80 states across the world, in parallel with ensuring various food and livelihood needs for the citizens despite of the unjust economic siege and the 5-year war on the country.

On this occasion, Syria vows to continue late president’s firm and deep-rooted process and national principles, voicing determination to restore the usurped legitimate Arab rights and showing rejection to surrender or yield to threats.
The late President was born on 6 October 1930 in al- Qardaha in the countryside of the coastal Lattakia province.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Syrian Armed Forces in 1952. He graduated in 1955, after which he was commissioned a lieutenant in the Syrian Air Force. He was assigned as Minister of Defense in 1966 and was commissioned a
Lieutenant General in 1968.

He was Prime Minister from 1970 to 1971, President of Syria from 1971 to 2000, Regional Secretary of the Regional Command of the Syrian Regional Branch
and Secretary General of the Ba’ath Party from 1971 to 2000. He died on 10 June 2000.
