Damascus Countryside, SANA- Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi and Damascus Countryside Governor Hussein Makhlouf inaugurated on Monday the expansion works in al-Ghizlanieh Health Center.
The expansion project which is worth SYP 60 million is meant to offer a wider spectrum of healthcare services for the locals.
The minister affirmed that the project is part of the ongoing efforts to broaden the scope of healthcare services to citizens through a number of basic and specialized clinics, in addition to the laboratory and pharmaceutical services.
Yazigi pointed out that ministry is exerting all necessary efforts to provide citizens with healthcare services through health centers, stressing the importance of raising awareness on chronic and common diseases’ prevention and the dissemination of healthy habits.
During his visit to healthcare centers where the polio vaccination campaign is underway, the minister underscores keenness to immunize children against childhood diseases, particularly polio, in order to preserve their health.
A number of citizens in Ghizlanieh Health Center expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to deliver safe vaccines to children in all Syrian areas.
The Health Ministry, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), had launched on Sunday a five-day polio vaccination campaign for all children under five years.
