Baku, SANA-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting Syria in its post-conflict reconstruction efforts, emphasising the country’s willingness to contribute to initiatives aimed at restoring stability.
Azerbaijan’s state news agency reported that during a meeting with President Ahmad al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2025 in Turkey, Aliyev expressed Azerbaijan’s welcome of the new changes in Syria, which were followed by the dispatch of a diplomatic delegation to Syria and the resumption of the Azerbaijani embassy in Damascus after a long period of closure due to the policies of the former regime.
During the meeting, Presidents Al-Sharaa and Aliyev also discussed the future development of joint tripartite cooperation ties between Syria, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
An agreement was reached on facilitating the exchange of visits by high-level official delegations and business representatives from the two countries.
Aliyev also extended an official invitation to President al-Sharaa to visit Baku.
