Damascus, SANA- The Preparatory Committee for the National Dialogue Conference held Sunday a press conference at the Ministry of Media headquarters in Damascus to announce the committee’s second statement.

During the conference, the Committee said that as a part of the ongoing preparations for the National Dialogue Conference, more than 30 meetings were held across all provinces to ensure the representation of various components of Syrian society.

About 4,000 men and women participated in the meetings which created a broad consensus among the Syrians and that facilitated the committee’s work, as issues of transitional justice, constitutional construction and institutional reform were discussed, according to committee.

Repeated calls were made for the necessity of issuing a temporary constitutional declaration to facilitate the transitional phase, the need to develop an economic plan commensurate with the phase, in addition to the necessity of restructuring government sectors, involving citizens in the management of institutions, and enhancing security and stability to facilitate the rebuilding of state institutions, the committee added.

The committee stressed that, despite the differences in viewpoints, yet diversity is a clear indicator of the Syrians’ ability to dialogue and coexists, and this conference is the first step in a long national path that requires continuous joint work to build a new Syrian national identity.

In turn, Hassan al- Dughaim, S the committee’s spokesman, said that Invitations to conference participants from Inside and outside Syria will begin Sunday and then determine the venue of the conference.

“Recommendations from the National Dialogue will not be mere advice and formalities, but will be the basis for the provisional constitutional declaration, economic identity, and institutional reform plan” al- Dughaim said adding that the committee has modified its programs based on criticism, as the meeting will be with various segments of society, especially in the eastern regions, and there will be representation for the families of victims, the wounded and detainees.

He went on saying that formation of the transitional government is not concurrent with the National Dialogue process, but its formation after the National Dialogue will enable the utilization of the conference’s proposals.
