Seoul, SANA- South Korean government has decided to establish official diplomatic relations with Syria, after the fall of the deposed Assad regime.
“During our recent visit to Syria, the Syrian government affirmed its readiness to establish diplomatic relations with Seoul, with Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani expressing Syria’s determination to establish new bilateral relations with South Korea,” Yonhap News Agency quoted a South Korean Foreign Ministry official as saying.
“During our talks with Syrian officials, we stressed Seoul’s continued support for the Syrian people’s process for freedom and democracy, and we referred to the benefits that could be gained from potential economic cooperation between the two countries, with determination to participate in Syria’s reconstruction efforts.” The Korean official added.
Foreign Minister, Asaad al-Shaibani, received on Friday a delegation from South Korea, chaired by Kim Eun-jeong, the Director-General of the African Middle Eastern Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
