Damascus, SANA – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced April 14 a date for the draw for the second round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Asia Cup qualifiers.
The draw will be held in the Malaysian Capital of Kuala Lumpur, the AFC’s main headquarters. The 40 participating teams in the second round have been divided into five levels. Syria was classified in Level 4 along with Democratic Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
The teams will play in eight groups, each including five teams. The competitions, which are set to start on June 11, 2015 and end on March 26, 2016, are to be held in two stages.
