New York, SANA Un Security Council has condemned the terrorist attack committed by two Tunisian gunmen at National Bardo Museum in Tunis, killing 19 people including 17 foreigners and injuring 44 others.
The gunmen, dressed in military uniforms, opened fire on the tourists — including visitors from Italy, France, Australia, Colombia, Poland and Spain — as they got off a bus then chased them inside the museum, said Prime Minister Habib Essid.
The fifteen UNSC members stressed in a statement the need ” to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice.”
The council extended its condolences to the families of the victims, the government of Tunisia and the governments who have lost citizens in the attack.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned ” in the strongest terms attack against Tunisia’s National Bardo Museum,” expressing solidarity with the country.
The attack also drew strong condemnation from US Secretary of State John Kerry who denounced the “wanton violence” while British Prime Minister David Cameron said he was “appalled” by the attack and French President Francois Hollande expressed “solidarity” with the country.
