WHO calls for protecting health and humanitarian staff in Gaza strip

Geneva, SANA-A Draft resolution by World Health Organization demanded Israel to respect obligations regarding health and humanitarian teams in the besieged Gaza strip.

“The Executive Council expresses its deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, especially regarding the military operations in the Gaza Strip”, AFP quoted the organization as saying in a statement.

The Draft resolution referred to the risks that could be posed to public health by the presence of thousands of victims still buried under the rubble, as well as the poor hygiene conditions and overcrowded shelters.

The Executive Council of the World Health Organization has 34 States, while the draft resolution has been prepared by 17 of its members.
