Geneva, SANA- With participation of Syria, International Labor Conference started its 111th session on Tuesday in Geneva, which is organized annually by International Labor Organization (ILO), and it will last till June 16th.
The conference agenda includes information and reports on applying agreements and recommendations related to apprenticeships and discussing its strategic objective such social protection, labor protection, and taking into account the industrial policies and technology to move towards environmentally sustainable economies and societies
Director General of the organization presented a special report on the Arab workers living under control of Israeli occupation in Palestine, occupied Syrian Golan and Lebanese Shebaa Farms.
On the behalf of the government team, permanent representative of Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Haider Ali Ahmed represented Syria, while the workers team was represented by Jamal al-Qadri, Head of General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria, and the employers team by Ghazwan al-Masri, Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry.
Al-Qadri said that the conference agenda includes topics related to the future of work in light of the ongoing developments in the technology sector, artificial intelligence, and change in labor relations.
He noted that the conference will discuss listing health and safety of workers among the basic rights of workers all over the world.
Director of Social Affairs and Labor in Damascus, Daleen Fahd, underlined the importance of the conference at the international level, as it includes launching a global coalition for social justice.
During the participation of employers from the representatives of the Syrian delegation, Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Ghazwan al-Masri presented two working papers in which he emphasized the role of institutions and companies in supporting the training to enable young people with the skills required to enter the labor market.
He underscored the importance of focusing on labor protection, health and safety of workers, preserving their rights, and efforts exerted to protect them in the workplace.
It is notable that the conference is held once a year to discuss major issues in the world of work and brings together representatives of governments, workers and employers from the 187 member states of the organization.
