A traditional carnival march in Tartous countryside

Tartous, SANA- Under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Tartous governorate and coinciding with Eid al-Fitr and World Heritage Day , al-Barqiyyah Association for humanitarian affairs organized a traditional carnival march.

About 99 heritage personalities representing different spectrum of governorates participated in the carnival, roaming the main streets of the town amidst a festive atmosphere full of joy and happiness.

Ahmed Abbas, chairman of the association’s board of directors, told SANA reporter that the aim of the carnival is to revive the immaterial Syrian heritage by wearing traditional folk costumes that represent the various spectrums of Syrian society.

A number of participations said that the purpose of the carnival is to show Syria’s heritage and its ancient history.

People of the town said that it is the second year in a row that a carnival is held and roams the streets, spreading joy and happiness in the hearts of adults and children, in addition to its contribution to the consolidation and revival of the intangible Syrian heritage.
