Syria and Indonesia hold talks to bolster judicial cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Justice Dr. Najm al-Ahmad discussed on Thursday with Indonesian ambassador in Damascus Joko Harianto bilateral relations between Syria and Indonesia.
High on the agenda were mutual agreements between Syria and Indonesia, including the extradition agreement and the status of Indonesian female domestic workers in Syria.
Al-Ahmad affirmed during the meeting that the Indonesian workers’ rights are guaranteed and secured under laws and legislations, pointing out that Syrian and Indonesian citizens are equal before the law.
“The Syrian judiciary is free, independent and fair,” added the minister.

The minister said that the Ministry will send a copy of Syrian legislations and laws to the Indonesian Embassy upon a desire articulated by the Indonesian side, particularly the ones related to combating terrorism and drugs.
For his part, Harianto expressed hope that Indonesia will benefit from the Syrian experience in legislations and Judicial work, adding that Indonesia is interested in consolidating ties with Syria in all sectors.
