Damascus, SANA- Foreign Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, voiced his condolences to the Republic of Belarus on the death of its Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, noting that Makei had made great efforts to push ahead the friendly bilateral relations and had been always known by supporting Syria countering the terrorist aggression it was subjected to.
“we received, with great sorrow and deep sadness, the news of the demise of our dear friend and colleague Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus”, Minister Mikdad said in a telegram of condolence addressed Sunday to the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, S.Aleinik.
Mikdad added, “the great Makei was an experienced diplomat and a sincere patriot who exerted all his efforts to defend his country’s causes, to the same extent that he defended the just causes of other peoples, out of his belief that peace and security in the world can only be achieved in a world in which everyone enjoys justice and prosperity, and in which the tendencies of domination and arrogance are absent”.
He went on to say that “in these painful moments, we recall the great efforts made by the late minister to improve the friendly bilateral relations and his firm stances in supporting Syria”.
Mikdad said, “I offer my deepest condolences and sincere sympathy for this painful loss. We hope to convey our condolences to colleagues in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the family and friends of the late Minister Vladimir Makei.”
On Saturday, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry announced the death of Minister Makie at the age of 64, who assumed his post as a foreign Minister since 20120.
