Doha, SANA-England cruised to a 6-2 win over Iran in the opening game of Group B of the World Cup at Khalifa International Stadium as young stars Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka scored the Three Lions’ first two goals.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring with a well-taken header before Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling extended England’s lead in the first half scoring twice for England in the 43rd and 62nd minutes.
Saka scored a fourth for Gareth Southgate’s side in the second half before Mehdi Taremi pulled one back for Iran, scoring his first goal.
Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish scored late in the second half to add gloss to the result for England, while Taremi managed to score a goal at England’s for the second time .
Next up, England faces the USA on Friday while Iran takes on Wales.
